Zine

Requirements

Unlike many other blog engines, Zine is not written in PHP but in the general purpose language Python. Unfortunately many cheap hosters do not provide Python hosting so it is currently a little bit tricky to get Zine running on cheap webhosts.

You need to have at least Python 2.4 and the following Python modules installed:

• SQLAlchemy 0.5 or higher
• Jinja2 2.1 or higher
• Werkzeug 0.4 or higher
• simplejson or Python 2.6
• html5lib
• pytz
• Babel 0.9.4 or higher
• lxml 2.0 or higher

Additionally one of the database systems supported by SQLAlchemy and Zine must be available. We currently support SQLite, MySQL and Postgres, others might work.

The following webservers and interfaces are supported by Zine:

• Apache, via FastCGI, SCGI, AJP, CGI, mod_python, or mod_wsgi
• lighttpd, via FastCGI, SCGI, or CGI
• nginx, via FastCGI and CGI
